Mount Kenya National Park

Mount Kenya National Park was formed in the 1949 to protect the Mountain and the animals surrounding the mountain. The Mount Kenya also acts as a water catchment area and is fertile area to farmers to grow crops. Mount Kenya has the second highest Mountain peak in Africa.

Visitors can enjoy mountain climbing, camping and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop. The area surrounding Mount Kenya has a selection of rare and endangered species of animals like Mountain Bongo. Other animals includes various species of monkeys, several antelopes, tree hyrax, porcupines and some larger animals such as elephant and buffalo all live in the forest. Predators found here include hyena and leopard, and occasionally lion. There are fewer mammals found at high altitudes on Mount Kenya.
