4 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Safari : This 4 Days Uganda Primate Safari takes you to Kibale National Park to track chimpanzee and Bigodi Swamp walk, then head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – a UNESCO World – Heritage Site for an encounter with the majestic mountain gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary of 4 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Safari

Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our driver guide. He will give you a short briefing about the safari and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Southwestern Uganda.

Along the way you will have a stop at the Equator Crossing in Kayabwe for pictures and in Mbarara for lunch. Continue with the journey through the verdant countryside to Bwindi arriving late in the afternoon, check into your lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in the rain tropical forest.

Enjoy an early breakfast, meet your driver-guide and be driven to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. A senior ranger will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest.

In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. Led by armed rangers and guides, you will search for mountain gorillas, a trek taking about 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

Once you locate the gorilla family assigned to you, you will spend one hour in their presence watching as they play, feed and take care of each other. You are allowed to take as many photos and videos as you wish, as long as your flashlight is off. Later trek back to the starting point, meet your driver guide and return to you lodge for an evening of rest, enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest. & Bigodi Swamp Walk

Following a delicious breakfast, bid farewell to Kibale Forest National Park to track chimpanzees. Along the trek you will marvel at the mountainous landscape and see the locals working in their terraced farm lands.

Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and enjoy a short rest. In the afternoon you will go for a guided Bigodi Swamp Walk where you will see several primate species as well as birds. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking – Departure

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, and head to the park for chimpanzee trekking. Join other trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the chimpanzees and in the forest.

With armed ranger guide, head into the rainforest looking for chimpanzees. Expect to see other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, the red colobus and several bird species. Once you locate the chimpanzee troop, you will spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each.

After this thrilling primate experience, you will return to your lodge, freshen up and checkout. Embark on a journey back to Entebbe with en-route lunch, you will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
