Lake Nakuru National park

Lake Nakuru National Park is located inside the Great Rift Valley within Lake Nakuru in Nakuru Town. The park which covers an area of 188 square Kilometer, was gazette as a Wildlife park (Bird Sanctuary) in 1961. Lake Nakuru National Park, is popularly known due to its pink millions of flamingoes which flock in to the lake Nakuru shores during warmer months in search of blue-green algal for food.

The park also inhabits other animals like black rhino, southern white rhino, climbing tree lions, Rothschild giraffes and recorded 500 species of birds. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives.
